Sooooo... I finally finished my latest project, It only took me a little over two years to complete but the AWSF mixtape is finally here!!
First off, you might be wondering why this project took so damn long. well, let me tell you. This is not just any old mixtape. this project consists of original edits, blends, remixes, and other production elements. I dug deep to find the sounds that I felt were necessary to aid in the theme of my vision. You see, when I approach a mix I don't simply look for cool songs to spin, I look for songs that speak to me, I look for songs that have unique elements, I look for songs that offer something other than the ability to mix one into the other. When working on a project such as this I often realize that I spend a whole day in my studio and end up with only 5 to 10 minutes of actual recording time. yup, my creative process is long and I often overreach but I stand by my method and believe that all of the hard work shows in the finished product.

Ok, let me explain the title of this mix.
When I first started working on this project my life was very different. I finally started to grow into my own as a working DJ in my local scene and I was very blessed to have the opportunity to spin at some of the biggest clubs and venues around town. After a few months of persistence, dedication, and grinding I eventually locked down some successful residencies in my city. Unfortunately, once COVID hit all of that changed. I lost all of my gigs, fell into a depression, and also lost a few good friends along the way. even though at times I've felt hopeless, stuck, uninspired, or lost I realized that I've also learned some valuable life lessons. I now know that no matter what life throws at me I can overcome, I can adapt and I can persevere.

Are We Still Friends is a love letter to my craft, it's a reminder that I'm still here doing exactly what I love and it's a thank you to everyone who continues to believe in me.

I hope that you enjoy the project, Hopefully, it won't take me another two years to drop the next one.
